Real Madrid sign Monaco forward, Colombian star Rodriguez

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Colombian James Rodriguez Tuesday expressed pleasure Tuesday for joining Spanish football giant Real Madrid for the next six seasons.

In a ceremony at Santiago Bernabeu, the 23-year-old ex-French Monaco playmaker said his dream has come true, expressing hope that he will achieve many titles and bring happiness to Real Madrid fans.

A statement on the Real Madrid website confirmed the signing of Rodriguez, and saying "Real Madrid CF have reached an agreement with AS Monaco FC to buy James Rodriguez, who will join the club for the next six seasons.

"The player will be presented today, Tuesday 22 July, at 20:00 (local time), in the Santiago Bernabeu's presidential box.

"Following that, James Rodriguez will take his first steps on the Santiago Bernabeu's pitch wearing the Real Madrid jersey and will then answer questions from the media outlets in attendance in the press room," the statement added.

The total fee, including add-ons, is reported to be about EURO 90 million (Pound 71 million), making Rodriguez the fourth most expensive transfer of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.

Rodriguez scored six goals in five matches at the World Cup as his side reached the quarter-finals.
