Obama, Polish Pres. discuss situation in Ukraine


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US President Barack Obama spoke this afternoon with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the upcoming NATO Summit in Wales, it was announced Monday.

The White House said in a statement that the two Presidents "exchanged views in advance of the meeting in Warsaw tomorrow of the leaders of nine NATO members from Central and Eastern Europe." Obama and Komorowski agreed "on the importance of raising defense spending among European members of NATO, as well as on the importance of alliance-wide and credible contributions to NATOآ's reassurance efforts in Central and Eastern Europe." "The two leaders also stressed the need for Transatlantic solidarity in responding to the tragic shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 and Russiaآ's efforts to destabilize Ukraine," the statement concluded.
