US Strongly condemns Egypt's western desert attack

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The United States strongly has condemned Saturday's "terrorist" attack in Egypt's western desert near al-Farafra, which killed more than 20 Egyptian soldiers.

In a statement issued late Monday State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf said that "a prosperous and dynamic Egypt requires an environment of security and stability." She affirmed that the U.S. "continues to support the Egyptian Government's efforts to counter the threat of terrorism in Egypt as part of our commitment to the strategic partnership between our two countries." "We extend our condolences to the families of the victims, and hope for the quick and full recovery of the wounded," she remarked.
