Israeli army admits 13 soldiers killed in Gaza

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israeli occupation army admitted Sunday that at least 13 soldiers of its forces were killed in battles with Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip.

An Israeli army spokesman was quoted by the Israeli radio as saying Sunday evening that the dead were from the Golani Brigades, admitting that it was the first time to unveil the number of Israeli victims to the public.

He pointed out that those people were killed in different accidents in the ground assault led by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip.

He said a number of soldiers were wounded in the military operations, which are still ongoing.

Since July 7, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip, home to some 1.8 million Palestinians, with crippling air and naval bombardments with the ostensible aim of halting rocket fire emanating from the strip.

At least 425 Palestinians have been killed and 3008 others injured in the unrelenting Israeli attacks.
