Belgium says indications show MH17 hit by missile

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Belgium's outgoing Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo Sunday said there are indications that the Malaysian airliner last Thursday was hit by a missile over eastern Ukraine which is controlled by pro-Russian separatists.

In a press statement he condemned it as a "crime" and called on the troops that control the crash site to allow international experts, "direct, unconditional and safe access to the site in order to show respect to the victims and their families, to prevent looting and to ensure a serious and impartial investigation.

"Finding the bodies of the victims and repatriating them quickly in a dignified way is an absolute priority. In collaboration with the Dutch authorities, Belgium intends to do all it can to achieve this," he said.

The air disaster claimed lives of all 298 people, including 192 Dutch and six Belgian nationals, on board. The MH 17 was on a routine flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
