Woqod signs deals for seven petrol stations across Qatar

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has signed seven contracts with two local companies for the construction of fuel stations in different areas of Qatar.

The deals were signed on July 17 at the headquarters of Woqod, at Woqod Tower in Al Dafna.

The contracts were signed by Engineer Ibrahim Jaham Al Kuwari, CEO, Woqod and officials from Al 'Uqab Company for Trading and Contractions.

Al Kuwari said, "We are glad today to announce and sign the seven contracts to establish new fuel stations in different areas of the state.

"Work will start immediately in Al Qtaifyah, Freij Bin Derham [Bin Dirham Road] and Al Rayyan Al Jadeed areas inside Doha.

"The contracts also cover the construction of two stations at Salwa International Road - in Al Mseihabiyah and Sodanthell Crossroads.

"In light of the pressing demand in Al Shemal, top priority has been given to immediately build stations in Ein Sinan [Fleiha] and Al Shemal city to meet the local demand for petroleum products and services."

He said there are plans to build and operate 13 new stations in 2014-2015. Woqod plans to reach 100 stations by the end of the new five-year plan for 2014-2018.

Woqod, established through a royal decree, is a services company providing high quality services to meet latest local safety, security and environmental standards and to set a model among modern fuel stations that operate in top industrialised and high-tech countries in Europe and elsewhere rather than seeking mere profitability.

"We have been keen to provide services wherever needed, without making profit our top consideration, and this explains the fact that Woqod establishes fuel stations in areas despite the absence of economic feasibility (not profitable), for the wider public interest and the benefit of residents in these areas.

"Woqod is determined to proceed with this strategy of providing quality services at its fuel stations and its Butane gas and retail services.

"Woqod reiterates its commitment as a national service company that seeks in the first place to provide high quality services to clients wherever they are located regardless of profit/loss considerations.

"As always, we will never spare any effort to provide services for our clients wherever they are and we reassure our shareholders on our keenness to safeguard their interests through continuous efforts to achieve their goals," he added.
