NATO Drone Strike Leaves 12 Taliban Militants Dead in Afghan Herat


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bul July 20 (QNA) - At least 12 Taliban militants were killed following a drone strike in western Herat province of Afghanistan.

Local government officials in Herat city said the airstrike was carried out late Saturday in Obe district according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

District police chief for Obe Gen. Sher Aqa Alokozai said the foreign forces drone targeted the militants in Nai Yak area on Saturday evening.

Gen. Alokozay further added that the militants belonged to a famous Taliban commander who is involved in major terrorist attacks in Herat and Badghis provinces.

He said the militants were busy plotting terrorist attacks when they were targeted by a NATO drone.

According to reports the Taliban militants killed in airstrike had come to Herat from Badghis province for insurgency activities.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far. (QNA)
