A night when prayers are stronger than 1000 months worship

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Though all days and nights of the holy month of Ramadan are full of blessings and rewards the last 10 days have a special status.

Want to add more than 83.4 years of devout worship to your life Have all your sins forgiven Start a new chapter Want to get closer to God Start tonight. It is the right time.

Though all days and nights of the holy month of Ramadan are full of blessings and rewards the last 10 days have a special status as stressed in the recommendations and practices of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Islamic researcher Dr Sheikh Mohammed Ashmawy said the Prophet used to keep himself and his family busy in acts of worship during these blessed days.

Praying reading the Holy Quran seeking forgiveness giving for charity and performing I’tekaf or staying in seclusion in the mosque are some of those activities.

Worshipping on Laylat Al Qadr — the Night of Power when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet — reaps greater virtue and reward than worshipping devoutly for 1000 months as stipulated in the holy book Dr Ashmawy said.

Sheikh Mahmoud Marei imam of Al Huda mosque said there are some signs to identify Laylat Al-Qadr: “As the Prophet said it is a pleasant and bright night neither hot nor cold and the sun rises red and weak with no visible rays the following day.”

Sheikh Mohammed Rayan imam of Al Maghfira mosque said while some people feel delighted they are nearing the end of Ramadan the early Muslims used to feel grief as if losing someone dear to them: “They felt sorry to bid farewell to this noble month which is full of opportunities to repent and gain great rewards. They were fearful that their deeds were unacceptable.”

He said they used to supplicate Almighty Allah for six months so that He may let them live until they witnessed Ramadan. “Even after Ramadan they supplicated Him for six months asking Him to forgive their deeds.”

Sheikh Mohammed Al Arabi imam of Al Tawheed mosque said Allah forgives the sins of those who stay up and pray during this great night.

“Allah has concealed this night so that we strive hard to worship” he said.

A special Duaa (supplication) is recommended this night.

“When Syedna Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet about the best Duaa to make that night he said: ‘Say O Allah You are forgiving and generous and You love forgiveness so forgive me.’”
