Iran Six Powers Extend Nuclear Talks Deadline for Four Months


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Enna July 19 (QNA) - Iran and six world powers have extended negotiations over the Iranian nuclear programme through November 24 EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced early Saturday in Vienna.



The extension came with the initial deadline agreed late last year when the talks were launched looming on Sunday.

With a goal of verifiable curbs of the nuclear programme coupled with an end to sanctions targeting Iran the process could end Tehran's international isolation.

"While we have made tangible progress on some of the issues and have worked together on a text for a joint comprehensive plan of action there are still significant gaps on some core issues which will require more time and effort" Zarif and Ashton the sextet's lead negotiator said in identical statements.



Talks between Iran and the group of Britain China France Russia the United States and Germany are to continue in the coming weeks in various formats.(QNA)
