Microsoft closes Nokia's Hungary plant, cuts 18,000 jobs

(MENAFN) Microsoft Corp announced closing the Nokia plant in Hungary as part of a restructuring effort following its buyout of the cell-phone maker, Xinhua reported.

The Hungary facility is one of the many that Microsoft is shutting down, as the software giant will be dismissing 18 thousand workers worldwide over the next year.

"One part of the plan called for speeding up negotiations with international businesses interested in establishing operations in Komarom (northwest Hungary)," Foreign Ministry State Secretary said.
