Talks on competition, monopoly law in Oman continue


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The State Council on Tuesday held its 11th regular sitting of its third session of the fifth term under the chairmanship of  of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al  Manthri, where it continued discussions on the draft of the Competition Protection and Prevention of Monopoly Law. 

In his speech, Dr Manthri pointed out that the proposed law is an important one complements other legislations in this field, such as the Consumer Protection Law and the Commercial Agencies Law.

Dr Manthri said these laws encourage competition and open new horizons towards a liberal and transparent economy, which in turn lead to national growth and serve interests of the country's people.

The draft law was referred to the State Council by the Majlis A'Shura after approval from it side. On the other hand, the State Council also reviewed the report of the Secretariat General on the activities that have taken place since the last meeting, as well as other items listed on the agenda and took appropriate decisions in this regard.
