German fans in UAE leapt with joy when their team beat Argentina 1-0 to lift the Fifa World Cup 2014.

Cafes at various locations in the UAE went jam packed with customers making reservations well in advance to watch the finals with family and friends.

Argentine and German fans came all geared up to party if their respective team won. In one café located in Al Garhoud German fans wrapped themselves in German flags and danced to the beat of the drums in celebration soon after Mario Goetze of Germany scored a superb extra-time winner to put Germany in the lead.

There was absolute silence in the otherwise noisy room of the café when a couple of minutes before the final whistle Argentine star footballer Messi was awarded a free kick.

“But when the ball was kicked over the goal post by Messi it was such a relief for me” said Mohammad Adel who had come along with his friends to watch the match. “A minute later the final whistle blew and I was so happy. Germany deserves to win” he added.

After the match ended the Argentine fans were seen disappointed and made their way to their respective vehicles parked outside various cafes that are located next to each other in Al Garhoud but for the German fans it was party time and they made sure that they did exactly that in style.

“The Argentine team was no match for the Germans in this particular World Cup. Look at the manner in which the Germans have played throughout this World Cup. They were a class apart. They played as a team while the other teams banked on individual stars” said Yousef Khan a Pakistani national and a German fan.

Among the couple of Argentine fans who stood watching the celebrations all around them was Sanjay Arora an Indian who was seen congratulating the German supporters. He said: “Yes I am a bit disappointed that Argentina did not win but then again we cannot take the glory from the German team. They played as one team. They were simply superb in their manoeuvres on the field.”

While the supporters from the teams were charged with emotions the only concern for the café owners was the turnover of customers. One café owner who did not want to be named said: “I am not bothered which team wins or losses. All that I am concerned is my business. Fifa has been a good time to get some extra bucks and why not we provide the best for our customers. We serve excellent food and have large screens installed in the café hall. The business so far has been good. I am happy.”

The celebrations did not end inside the cafes but poured on to the streets with joyous fans despite being stuck in serpentines queues on their way back home. For them the frenzy of this win will take time to subside.
