ENOC donates AED 3 million to UAE Water Aid initiative

(MENAFNEditorial) Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) today pledged AED 3 million towards the UAE Water Aid initiative (UAE Suqia), launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. UAE Suqia aims to provide access for 5 million people around the world to fresh drinking water.

Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, handed over the cheque for AED 3 million to Yahia Abdullah AlMuaimi, Local Aid Section Head of Red Crescent, at a ceremony held at ENOC's headquarters.
Saeed Khoory said: "The UAE Water Aid initiative underlines the commitment of our leadership to make a meaningful difference to the lives of the underprivileged across the world, further defining our nation's status as a key international donor of aid and humanitarian support. We are indeed honoured to support the philanthropic initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which further strengthens our corporate social responsibility commitment.

"Reflecting the spirit of compassion and generosity that marks the Holy Month of Ramadan, UAE Water Aid will enable communities to have access to drinking water, the vital source of life and good health. We are thankful that our contribution will help communities that are in urgent need of clean drinking water," he added.

The UAE Water Aid programme started on the first day of Ramadan and has received overwhelming support from all sections of the community. Through the funds raised, the provision of supplying clean drinking water will be undertaken in several locations around the world. The World Health Organisation estimates that nearly 3.4 million people die every year due to lack of access to clean water.

ENOC, the winner of the CSR Label Award, also champions the cause of fighting global hunger through its 'Human Fuel' campaign. As part of the initiative, ENOC encourages motorists to donate funds to support the United Nations World Food Programme and Dubai Charity Association to address global hunger.

Donation boxes are placed at all service stations enabling them to make their contributions. Those who are interested can also visit a dedicated and secure website at https://wfp.org/enoc to make their donation.

ENOC is supporting several charity programmes during the Holy Month of Ramadan, including the distribution of free LPG refill vouchers to 300 underprivileged families in Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
