(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bul July 13 (QNA) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai welcomed the full audit of votes in runoff presidential election and endorsed the agreement of presidential contenders Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
Karzai announced his support for the 100% audit and recount of the votes so that the Afghan people can know their vote according to (Khaama Press).
Karzai appeared in a press conference with the US Secretary of State John Kerry who announced the agreement of the presidential contenders for the full audit of the votes.
Karzai said he was expecting the electoral bodies start the audit process as soon as possible so that the people of Afgahnistan can find their president based on their votes.
He said the people of Afghanistan are impatiently waiting for their new president and admitted that the delays have hampered the work of the government.
The US Secretary of Satate John Kerry welcomed President Karzai's endorsement of the two presidential contenders' agreement and insisted that his leadership will be vital through the transition of power to the next elected president.
In the meantime President Karzai agreed to postpone the inauguration of the next government for a few weeks to allow the conduct of the audit and prevent power vacuum. (QNA)
