China's CGN to invest USD6.1b in two nuclear plants


(MENAFN) China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) has approved a plan to invest USD6.1 billion in two nuclear power plants in southwest China's Guizhou Province, Xinhua reported.

China's largest nuclear power operator will spend USD5.67 billion before 2020 on two 1.25 gigawatt generating units for a nuclear plant in the city of Tongren, and USD486.4 million on a smaller plant with two 100 megawatt units.

The company also will invest USD810.7 million in a wind power base with capacity of 1 gigawatt, according to an agreement it has signed with the Guizhou provincial government.

It is noted that CGN runs 64 percent of China's operational nuclear power capacity and owns 51 percent of nuclear capacity currently under construction.
