US federal gov't posts USD70.5b budget surplus in June


(MENAFN) According to the US Treasury Department, the country's federal government posted a budget surplus of USD70.5 billion in June, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, the budget deficit for the first nine months of the current fiscal year declined strongly, the department added.

The federal government's revenue stood at USD323.6 billion in June, 13 percent higher over a year, while spending totaled USD253.1 billion, USD83 billion more than a year ago.

The combined budget deficit in the first nine months of the current fiscal year stood at USD365.9 billion, 28 percent lower than a year ago, marking the smallest budget deficit since 2008.
