Saudi eyes USD140b to invest in power generating


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia intends to attract USD140.2 billion-worth contracts to invest in power generation, transmission and distribution projects, according to Arab News.

Power generation projects alone in the kingdom are expected to cost USD89.30 billion, while transmission and distribution will cost USD32.25 billion and USD18.66 billion respectively.

A report released by the Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA) said that the maximum power load will reach 71.940 GW by the year 1441 Hijri, whereas the generating reserve will hit 15 percent.
