(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Sudanese government decided to revise the anti-terrorism agreement signed with the US 14 years ago.
Sudan News Agency on Saturday quoted an official Foreign Ministry source as saying that Sudan has not informed the US about the revision issue yet, noting that the country is committed to fighting terrorism according to international laws and agreements.
The reason behind the decision is due to the tension in the bilateral relations between the two countries, the source explained, criticizing the economic sanctions posed against Sudan by the US. Moreover, the source also criticized the sanctions the US poses on banks and organizations which do business with Sudan.
The source accused the US of creating obstacles for Sudan's attempts to receive funds and donations from international organization.
Sudan has been cooperating with the US in fighting terrorism since 2000, an effort praised by Washington in its annual terrorism reports, however, the US still keeps Sudan on its list of terrorism-encouraging countries since 1997.
