Arab League calls Sudanese parties to join dialogue
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Arab League envoy to Sudan Salah Halima called on all political forces and armed movements in Sudan to have dialogue to address their national issues, stressing Arab League support to the "national dialogue initiative" launched by President Omar Al-Bashir.
He also welcomed steps taken by the Sudanese government for the release of political detainees in Sudan, calling the decision as a positive step to prepare an atmosphere for national dialogue.
Halima also considered the national dialogue meeting which was held on Thursday headed by President Omar Al-Bashir as a "political breakthrough" to support the process of national dialogue and put a roadmap for the future of political action in Sudan.
He also renewed the Arab League's support for Sudan's national dialogue initiative launched by President Al-Bashir.
"We hope for the national dialogue to be purely a Sudanese one without any external interference," Halima said.
The president launched last January a national dialogue initiative to address the problems of Sudan and reach a national reconciliation.
