Three held in MoM's campaign against illegal workers in Oman's S Sharqiyah governorate


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Directorate General of Manpower in South Sharqiyah recently began a campaign to clamp down on Labour Law violators.

Khamis al Rasbi, inspector at the Labour Welfare department,  stated that there have been 31

inspection visits to fruit and vegetable shops, those selling foodstuff, electronics, textiles, construction material and fishing gear at Jaalan Bani Bu Hasan and Al Ashkara. Three workers have been arrested during these visits, he said. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness among business owners on the Labour Law.

Zahar al Mahagri, another Labour Law inspector, said that not only is a violating worker deported, but the firm where he was employed is also fined by the Ministry of Manpower. ''Illegal workers have a negative impact on Oman's economic security and job market," he added.
