Bashir Bou-Abbas Al-Shebab Ashkanani win golds


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY July 6 (KUNA): Kuwaiti swimmers have snatched four gold and three sliver medals in first and second day of the German's Darmstadt International Swimming Competition. Swimmer Mohammad Bashir won the gold medal of 300m breaststroke competition ending the distance in 2.37 minutes. Swimmer Ali Bou-Abbas won gold medal of 200m freestyle competition ending the distance in 2.25 minutes.

Swimmer Shehab Al-Shehab won the gold medal of 200m butterfly competition ending in 2.27 minutes. Ali Ashkanani won the gold medal of the 200-m butterfly competition (age category of 15 years) ending in 2.13 minutes.

Meanwhile Swimmer Abdulrazzaq Al-Dhuwahi won silver medal of 100m freestyle competition ending in 58.41 seconds and Abdulaziz Al-Dhuwahi won silver medal of 200m freestyle competition ending in 2.38 minutes.

Swimmer Waleed Abdulrazzaq won silver medal of 100m freestyle (under the age of 17 years) competition ending 56.67 seconds.

Moreover Swimmer Ahmad Al-Bader was qualified to the final stage of 50m and 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle competition (open category). Swimmer Salman Mandan was also qualified to the final stage of 50m competition (under 17 years category).

Commenting on the results Chairman of Kuwait Swimming Association Sheikh Khaled Al-Bader Al-Sabah told KUNA that "The Association is very proud of the great results of Kuwaiti swimmer in the second day of the competition." "This reflects the success of the development plan set by the Association." Sheikh Khaled congratulated the winning swimmers and wished them more success in prominence in the field. He lauded Kuwaiti team's technical and administrative staff for their exerted efforts in this tournament.

He thanked the government and the Public Authority for Youth and Sports for their unlimited support for the Association and Kuwait swimmers.

Darmstadt's International Swimming Competition/Merck Super Cup is a high-end competition is still one of the greatest of a club regularly held events in Europe.
