Saudi- Woman wins SR331000 in damages


(MENAFN- Arab News) The Kuala Lumpur High Court has ordered a Malaysian doctor at a private hospital to pay 280000 ringgit (SR331000) in damages to a Saudi woman burnews.com online paper said.

The Saudi student had earlier filed a suit of medical negligence during childbirth which caused grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of her baby a news dispatch by the Bernama News Agency said.

The court ordered Dr. Seri Suniza to pay 200000 ringgit in general damages and a further 80000 ringgit for causing pain and suffering to 31-year-old Turkyyah Abdulrahman Al-Asiri.

The doctor will also pay another 25000 ringgit to cover litigation costs.

The court ruled that Dr. Seri was fully responsible for medical negligence notably for administering an oxytocin overdoes during labor which resulted in a lot of pain and suffering for the patient the agency said.
