(MENAFN- Arab News) The popular Ramadan festival opened here on Tuesday in Balad which will this year feature traditional dishes products of productive families folk art and traditional dancing and singing.

Hani Abu Ras mayor of Jeddah opened the festival with businesspeople and members of the community.

Abu Ras said the event would showcase the country's heritage and culture and help the youth stay in touch with local traditions.

Areej Khaleel the festival organizer and director said the event would help productive families participate in the country's economy. It would also support domestic and regional tourism and preserve and promote the traditions of ancient Jeddah.
