Bridgestone recalls faulty truck tyres in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Bridgestone has undertaken a voluntary recall of faulty truck tyres in Oman which were causing sidewall cracks and poor inflation.

Towell Auto Centre (TAC), which is the sole distributor of Bridgestone tyres in Oman, said that there was no risk except that the tyre may not give the desired performance. Oommen John, assistant general manager, TAC, told Muscat Daily, that the company itself went ahead and informed the authorities about its decision to recall the tyres. ''Only one size - 12R22.5 has been recalled,'' he said, adding ''We don't import this size in Oman but it may have come to the country as original fitting of some trucks.''

In November 2013, Bridgestone issued a voluntary recall of defective tyres sold to consumers in the US and throughout the world. Over 40 types of truck and bus tyres were included in the worldwide recall. And it also included the said size of 12R22.5.<
