Japan's machinery orders dip 19.5 percent in May

(MENAFN) According to the Japanese government, core private-sector machinery orders declined 19.5 percent in May, Xinhua reported.

The Japanese Cabinet Office said that the orders that exclude those for ships and from utilities have dropped following a 9.1 percent decline in April and an improvement of 19.1 percent in March.

The value of orders dipped to USD6.75 billion, the smallest since January 2013 and prompted the government to lower its basic assessment of the orders.

"The orders are at a standstill in their growth trend, while last month they were on a growth trend," local media reported, citing the office.
