Kuwaitis with mental disabilities visit Barcelona

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwaiti ship, sailing around the world to propagate the cause of people with mental disabilities, docked on Wednesday at the port of the city of Barcelona, coming from a four-day sojourn at the Spanish port of Ibiza.

Among those welcoming the arrival of the ship, whose mission has been dubbed Journey of Hope, was the acting charge d'affaires at the embassy of Kuwait in Spain Mishal Al-Saeed who told KUNA that the passengers and crew of the ship will be assisted by the embassy staff to visit organizations that look after people with mental disabilities in the city of Barcelona. Moreover the Kuwaiti visitors will relay to the caretakers of these organizations Kuwait's laudable experience in taking care of the mentally disabled, said Al-Saeed.

In similar remarks to KUNA, member of the board of trustees of the Journey of Hope mission Jassem Al-Bader said that the ship had so far been to eleven countries and was due to continue on to France, the UK, and the U.S., where the crew and passengers of the ship would deliver a message of thanks to the International Paralympic Committee for holding annual tournaments and championships for the benefit of the mentally disabled, in which Kuwaiti Paralympians have consistently participated.

He said the Kuwaiti passengers of the ship, including the mentally disabled, would be taking part, among other activities in Barcelona, in a number of workshops and seminars focusing on the imperative to give employment opportunities to all people with special needs including the mentally disabled.
