Palestine- Abbas: Israel commits genocide in Gaza

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday described what is going on now in the Gaza Strip as a "genocide".

"What's happening now in Gaza is a war against the Palestinian people as a whole and not against certain factions," Abbas said in the beginning of a Palestinian leadership meeting here on Wednesday, adding Israel is not defending itself, but it is defending settlements and its project.

"We are moving in several ways to stop the Israeli aggression and spilling of Palestinian blood, including talking to Egyptian President Abdulfatah Al-Sisi and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon," he added.

Abbas said that he agreed with Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki over telephone to suggest at a planned Arab meeting over Libya in Tunis a possible summit on the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Israel warplanes have so far hit 550 targets in Gaza, killing so far 43 Palestinians.
