EU- Oldest member in EP is 92 years old


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The oldest member in the new European Parliament is Emmanouil Glezos, from Greece, who is 92 years old. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Anders Vistisen, from Denmark, is the youngest MEP.

According to an EP press release here today, the percentage of women in the EP increased from 35.05 percent in 2009 to 36.88 percent in 2014, while the proportion of re-elected MEPs slightly went down from 49.59 percent in 2009 to 49.4 percent in 2014.

Malta send the highest percentage of women (66.67 percent) and Lithuania the lowest with 9.09 percent.

69.79 percent of German MEPs got re-elected, the highest percentage of any EU country.
