(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) U.S. Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday spoke with President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani during which they discussed the situation in Iraq, it was announced Wednesday.
The Office of the Vice President said in a statement that Biden "underscored the United States' support for Iraq in its fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant." Biden also "expressed his condolences for all Iraqis who have lost their lives defending their land against ISIL including members of the Kurdish Peshmerga." The statement noted that Biden and Barzani "also agreed on the need to accelerate the government formation process pursuant to the time-lines set forth in the Iraqi constitution."
