US concerned over N. Korean missile launches

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US Department of State expressed on Wednesday its concern over another round of short-range missiles launched by North Korea last night, the fourth series in two weeks.

"As we have emphasized, such provocative actions unilaterally heighten tensions in the region, and they will not provide North Korea with the prosperity and security it claims to seek," Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters.

"We once again note with concern North Korea's apparent failure to provide prior notification to merchant ships, fishing vessels and passenger and cargo aircraft in the vicinity, despite international provisions to do so," added Psaki.

The US urged "North Korea to refrain from taking provocative actions and instead fulfill its international obligations and commitments."
