French GDF Suez signs USD1.5b contract with Abu Dhabi


(MENAFN) French utility GDF Suez has recently entered in an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company in a plan to capitalize on growing demand in the region, according to the Emirates 24/7.

The Mirfa project, which is expected to cost as much as USD1.5 billion, will include acquiring certain water and power facilities.

The contract also includes developing, designing, and constructing new power and water facilities, as well as the operation of the plant.

Chief Executive Gerard Mestrallet said: "This new project will allow us to pursue our growth strategy in the region and to meet the increasing demand for both electricity and water in the United Arab Emirates."
