S. Korea's tech sector exports hit a new record in H1

(MENAFN) A government report showed that South Korea posted a new record of exports in the information, communication and technology (ICT) industry in the first half of the year, Xinhua reported.

The ICT exports reached a new high of USD83.83 billion during the January-June period, up 3.2 percent from the same period of last year, led by a solid demand for locally-made chips and handsets.

Chip exports gained 10.6 percent from a year earlier to USD29.3 billion in the first half, with those for handsets, including smartphones, growing 12.6 percent to USD13.1 billion.

the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy forecasts the country's ICT exports will keep its growth trend in the second half on high quality of its major export products.
