Britain's industrial output up 2.3 percent


(MENAFN) According to Office of National Statistics (ONS), Britain's industrial output rose by 2.3 percent in the May2013-May2014 period, with production expansion in two of the three main sectors, Xinhua reported.

Britain saw a 3.7 percent output growth in manufacturing in May compared with the same month of a year earlier, and 2.3 percent increase in water supply, sewerage & waste management sector.

Data showed that the total production decreased by 0.7 percent between April 2014 and May 2014, manufacturing was the largest contributor, declining by 1.3 percent and registering the biggest fall seen since January 2013.

In the March-May period of 2014, production and manufacturing were still 11.3 percent and 7.2 percent respectively below their figures, said the statistics arm of the government.
