(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY July 8 (KUNA): Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi lavished praise on two Kuwaiti physicians for having invented medical instruments useful in treating the elderly with brittle bones and in conducting surgical procedures for those of any age requiring them a press statement issued by the minister said on Tuesday.
The minister spoke at a ceremony held especially to honor the work of these two physicians: Dr Abdulrazzaq Al-Obeid and Dr Hassan Al- Shimmeri. Both men acquired patents from the United States for their inventions.
The minister thanked the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and Sabah Al Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity for having fostered the work of the two physicians urging at the same time the medical community in Kuwait to reach out to these institutions and others in the country with any breakthrough ideas they may wish to bring to the attention of manufacturers of medical paraphernalia.
KFAS Director Dr Adnan Shihabddin noted in a similar press statement today the close cooperation between his organization and the Ministry of Health and other government health departments and agencies in furthering scientific research and academic achievement.
Dr Al-Obeid said of his invention that it targeted treating the brittle bone structure and the spine of geriatric patients urging more care for the elderly as they tend to suffer from bone weakness due to age. As for Dr Al-Shimmeri he said of his invention that it worked to ease the process of suturing surgical wounds which would be of great benefit to the operating surgeon and his patient.
