Brok to head EP's foreign affairs committee
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Elmar Brok, a German Member of the European Parliament, was elected on Monday as chair of the Foreign Affairs committee of the European Parliament for next two and half year.
Brok, who belongs to the centre-right European Peoplesآ' Party, was also the chairman of the EP's foreign affairs committee from 1997-2007.
The committee is responsible for the promotion, implementation and monitoring of the Union's foreign policy as regards the EU'a common foreign and security policy (CFSP) and the common security and defence policy (CSDP).
In this context, the committee is assisted by a subcommittee on security and defence.
Meanwhile, Anna Fotyga of Poland was elected on Monday as chair of the EP's Security and Defence Subcommittee.
