Bahrain declares US assistant Secretary of State persona non grata

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US Assistant Secretary of State for Democratic Affairs, Human Rights and Labour Tomasz P. Malinowski is persona non grata, Bahrain's Foreign Ministry said in a statement published by state's news agency (BNA) on Monday, urging him to leave the country immediately.

It added this move came after the US official had intervened flagrantly in Bahrain's internal affairs and held meetings with certain parties not all parties. This behavior shows discrimination between one people. It is also against diplomatic norms and normal ties between countries.

The statement added that the decision is in line with the recommendations of the National Assembly in its extraordinary session held in July 2013.

The ministry, meanwhile, asserted Bahrain's keenness on solid and firm US-Bahrain ties, stressing that nothing will mar their steadily-growing relations in all fields, the statement added.
