(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MP Mahdi Al-Hafedh, the Iraqi parliament's eldest member, retracted a decision Monday to postpone tomorrow's session until August 12 and said it would be held next Sunday July 13 instead.
Al-Hafedh made the statement to the Iraqiya TV Channel, saying the decision would be announced in an official statement to be released tomorrow Tuesday.
He said the decision to hold the session next Sunday was adopted in consultation with leaders of the parliamentary blocs.
The parliament had decided earlier today to its session scheduled for tomorrow until August 12 because of political parties' failure to name house speaker, President and Prime Minister.
Al-Hafedh said "the responsibility of the delay (to elect the three leaders) lies on all political parties because they decided to postpone the session until after Eid Al-Fitr," which was due late this month.
Political parties will have time now to consult to name their representatives to the three top positions.
