Oman- Plant flouting environment norms gets one-month suspension notice

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) H E Mohammed bin Salim bin Said al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs on Monday issued a decision to suspend operations of a fish oil and powder plant in Rusayl Industrial Estate for a month for violating environment laws.

The suspension will be extended by another month if the plant fails to comply to the regulations. The decision was issued based on the Environment Protection and Pollution Control Law promulgated by Royal Decree 114/2001, the bylaw on hazardous materials issued by Ministerial Decision 18/93 and the Environmental Permit Bylaw issued by Ministerial Decision 187/2001.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has called on all factory owners and companies to abide by environmental laws to avoid penalties and harm to the environment.
