(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) With the start of Ramadan, Bank Nizwa has launched its Ramadan Zakati Campaign,' in partnership with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, to encourage and help them to fulfil their religious obligations.
This zakat fund will provide for the needy during the holy month. Bank Nizwa as Oman's first and leading Islamic bank, is committed to supporting the ministry in raising the profile of its important work to help alleviate the needy. Earlier this year, the bank helped the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs to create a seamless opportunity for customers to meet their religious obligations by creating a bank account which allows customers to easily transfer zakat from their accounts into the allocated Ministry of Religious Affairs account at Bank Nizwa. They can also deposit cash directly into this account. Customers who regularly wish to transfer zakat can set up a standing order.
During Ramadan, the bank will participate in the Zakati Campaign,' which will encourage people to pay zakat and keep the importance of zakat in the minds of its customers. Speaking on the launch of the campaign Dr Jamil el Jaroudi, CEO of Bank Nizwa, said, ''As the first Islamic bank, we know that zakat is a true embodiment of our Islamic faith, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
We are proud to be working with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs to help alleviate poverty as we are so appreciative of the blessings which Allah has bestowed upon us and we wish to empower those who are less fortunate.' During Ramadan, Bank Nizwa has additional staff on hand to help and advise its customers on their zakat contributions. Customers who choose to pay their zakat through the afore mentioned bank account are assured of a waiver of fees on all standing orders linked to this account. There are also fee waivers on internal, local and international transfers associated with this account.
