(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) As many as 70 companies have confirmed their participation in the third Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) to be held in Dubai from September 14 to 16 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

During its 12th preparatory meeting, the organising committee consisting of Ithraa, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) also agreed on a marketing and media plan to ensure that OPEX is well received.

''Our visits to industrial estates in Sohar, Nizwa and Salalah have proved successful in demonstrating the many benefits of OPEX and encouraging companies to participate.

''Increased trade between Oman and UAE demonstrates the growing reputation and demand for Omani products across the region,'' Ayman Abdullahal Hasani, chairman, OPEX organising committee, was quoted in a release as saying.

He added, ''Following previous OPEX events in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, more than 75 per cent of exhibitors have secured new deals with importers, and we are confident September's show will produce similar results. OPEX is a huge opportunity to unite the efforts of public and private sector organisations to increase the visibility of Oman-made products in emerging as well as developed markets.''

Nasima al Balushi, director general of export development, Ithraa stated, ''Preparation for September's OPEX is gathering pace and appointing an event management company is a major step forward. The marketing and media plan will help us achieve our targets as well as secure major footfall at the show. We want this show to be a memorable event
