Oman- State Council reviews competition and monopoly draft law

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The State Council office on Sunday held its 16th meeting of the first annual sitting of the fifth term under Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Manthri, chairman of the State Council.

The meeting discussed the report referred to it by the Majlis A'Shura on the draft Competition Protection and Prevention of Monopoly Law, which will be presented at the next session on July 15, after the Economic Committee completes its study and submits the report.

Copies of the draft law were sent to members of the State Council for their views before the next session for discussion and approval. The current annual term of the Council of Oman has been extended until the approval of Competition Protection and Prevention of Monopoly Law, as per the procedures stated in the Basic Law of the State.

Dr Manthri reviewed the agenda of the meeting and followed up on the report on implementing decisions taken at the office's previous meeting.

It also reviewed a follow-up report on activities of the committees during the period between the two meetings.
