S. Korea's exports of industrial materials hit new high in H1

(MENAFN) South Korea's exports of industrial parts and materials hit a record high in the January-June period of 2014, led by growing shipments to advanced countries, QNA reported.

In the first half of the year, outbound shipments of industrial parts and materials totaled USD133.9 billion, up 3.1 percent over a year ago, according to the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The country's trade surplus in the sector also soared to a new first-half high of USD50.8 billion as imports gained 1.6 percent on-year to USD83.1 billion.

"The country continued to post a trade deficit with Japan in the industrial parts and materials sector, but its deficit continued to narrow from USD10.4 billion in the first half last year to USD7.9 billion," the ministry said.
