Japan's PM to Create New Ministerial Post for Security

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo July 06 (QNA) - Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Sunday he plans to create a new ministerial post for security to revise and introduce relevant laws necessary to exercise the right to collective self-defense according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

"We want to prepare the legal framework...for areas ranging from 'gray zone' incidents to collective self-defense. As this will be a major legal change I want to appoint a new minister in charge of this" Abe told reporters.

The remarks came after his Cabinet on Tuesday approved reinterpreting the Constitution so the Self-Defense Forces can defend allies under armed attack in collective self-defense marking a departure from its postwar security policy. (QNA)
