Qatar- QU honours top 164 students


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar University (QU) honoured 164 distinguished students in a ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Doha recently.



Students were presented with awards for academic and non-academic achievements during 2013-2014. The ceremony was led by President, Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, and included Vice-President for Student Affairs, Dr Omar Al Ansari, vice-presidents and associate vice-presidents, deans, assistant deans, heads of department, and students' families.



Of the 155 students achieving GPA 3.5 and above, 13 were recognized for the highest achievement of 3.92 and above.



They were Ahmed Walid Al Sirr, Nayef Matar Al Shemmari, Aisha Mohammed Al Haidous, Nadia Ibrahim Fakhro, Basma Yahya Mismar, Tahniyat Fatima, and Sara Ahmed Bo-Madin from College of Business & Economics (CBE); Jana Al Khair Almisri, Maymona Rahman, Mohammed Thou Al Fakar Rahimat, and Loulwa Abdulrahman Al Obaidan from College of Arts & Sciences (CAS); Ahmed Saeed Abdulfattah Mohammed from College of Engineering (CENG); and Lama Jamal Abu Okour from College of Law (LAWC).



Nine students were recognized in the Non-Academic Awards category for accomplishments



They were Ahmad Yousef Fraidon (LAWC) and Tahani Saleh Al Fehadi (CAS) for leadership; Emad Abo Deiah and Saif Adel Khudeer (CENG), Khaled Mohammad Al Shebli and Randa Shaikh (CBE), Eiman Saleh Al Shemmari and Ouhoud Taher Abdulrab (CAS) for services to the university; and Mohammad Jasim Al Hardan (LAWC) for athletics.



Prof Al Misnad said: "We are proud of all of you - our excellent students - who have given so much back to the university through your hard work, dedication, commitment and volunteering spirit".



She said QU is committed to offering an encouraging environment for all students in which they can unlock their potential, acquire invaluable knowledge and build well-rounded personalities.
