(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bul july 03 (qna) - at least 44 taliban militants were killed during military operations in southern kandahar province of afghanistan.
local security officials said the militants were killed during the operations in the past one week according to the afghan (khaama press).
provincial security chief gen. rahmatullah atrafi said at least three militants were also injured and 15 others were detained during the operations.
gen. atrafi further added that the afghan security forces also thwarted several attack plots by anti-government militant groups in kandahar province.
he said at least 11 joint operations and 13 special military operations were conducted in kandahar city and other districts by afghan security forces.
gen. atrafi said afghan security forces also confiscated various types of heavy and light weapons including one rocket 1 pk machine gun 2 ak-47 rifles 1 set of communication device 137 land mines 3 rpg rockets 200 rounds of pk machine ammo and various other types of explosives.
the anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far. (qna)
