Obama discusses Iraq with King Abdullah of S. Arabia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) U.S. President Barack Obama called Wednesday the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, discussing the current situation in Iraq, the White House announced



The White House said in a statement "the two leaders discussed the current situation in Iraq, and the threat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) poses to the stability of Iraq and to the entire region." "They reaffirmed the need for Iraqآ's leaders to move expeditiously to form a new government capable of uniting all of Iraqآ's diverse communities," the statement added



Obama also "thanked the King for Saudi Arabiaآ's pledge of USD 500 million dollars to help alleviate the suffering of all Iraqis who have been displaced by the violence," and also conveyed his best wishes on Ramadan



The White House noted that the two leaders "agreed to continue to consult closely on regional developments.
