Tasneea has various subsidiaries responsible for manufacturing products such as chemical materials and oil field equipment. The company is also involved in the research and development (R&D) of forefront technology in the energy sector, a press release said on Wednesday.
Tasneea's focus is on establishing and developing the local manufacture of technical products and equipment, thereby contributing to the enhancement of in-country value for the oil and gas sector.
Dr Amer al Rawas joins Tasneea as Group CEO, carrying with him extensive experience in various sectors, primarily the telecom, oil and gas, and academic sectors. In 2002, Dr Rawas moved to Omantel to become managing director of Oman Mobile, and later CEO of Omantel in 2009.
Commenting on the appointment of Dr Rawas as Group CEO, Eng Hilal bin Hamed al Busaidi, chairman of Tasneea's board of directors, said, ''We are privileged to onboard such a high calibre Omani to head the executive management of the Group, as he has extensive experience and has achieved significant international and local accomplishments.''
''We look forward to benefit from his experience in leading the company to new horizons and contribute to the development of this important sector through the use of modern technology in the design and manufacture of products and equipment used in the extraction of oil and gas,'' said Busaidi.
''The oil and gas sector has been one of the biggest contributors to the economic development of Oman. We believe there are opportunities that can be tapped to realise the best use of the available resources and at the same time preserve our environment. We are confident that under the leadership of Dr Rawas the team will develop a comprehensive strategy to help the company realise its vision of contributing to the enhancement of the in-country value of the oil and gas sector in the sultanate,'' said the chairman.
Expressing his pleasure at joining Tasneea, Dr Rawas said, ''I'm pleased to rejoin the oil and gas sector and lead a team of experts to support the efforts made by the government and the private sector to maximise the value generated from one of the most important natural resources of the sultanate, as well as create the required balance between production and the enhancement of in-country value, while preserving the surrounding environment.''&n
