N Korea Urges South to Accept Its Peace Proposal

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul july 02 (qna) - north korea called on south korea to accept its latest peace overture to seoul as it is designed to improve inter-korean relations a pro-north korean newspaper in japan said wednesday.

north korea made the surprise proposal on monday that the two koreas suspend all military hostilities including joint south korea-u.s. military drills and stop slandering each other. a day later seoul turned it down saying that pyongyang must first show its commitment to ending its nuclear weapons program.

the choson sinbo said in an article that south korea revealed an obsolete way of thinking without seriously taking into account the underlying intention that pyongyang had in its offer according to south korea's (yonhap) news agency.

but the newspaper stopped short of criticizing seoul for rejecting its offer saying that the north's proposal reflects north korean leader kim jong-un's intention to improve inter-korean relations. (qna)
