Organised by Injaz Oman, the aim of the exhibitions is to display products of participating teams, look for sponsors, market products and initiate business opportunities.
Injaz Oman is a part of Injaz al Arab, a non-profit organisation that is collaborating with corporates and ministries to provide entrepreneurship education and training to Arab youth.
Shabib al Maamari, executive director of Injaz Oman said, ''This is the second year that we are organising the exhibition at MGM, owing to last year's success. While 16 institutions took part in the competition last year, 22 are taking part this year which include the Sultan Qaboos University, Higher College of Technology in Al Khuwayr (HCT), College of Banking and Financial Studies and the Nizwa College of Technology.''
He added that the exhibitions will help participating teams to get feedback from visitors on pricing and designs. ''Last year, some of the products were very well-received by visitors and got sold immediately.''
Maamari said that two such products - Grilo Grill and Simplicity - were quite popular among visitors.
''Both products are of great help during barbecue. Grilo Grill can be re-sized into the form of an iPad while Simplicity is a box can be used to carry all barbecue items.''
He said that the students who took part in last year's contest are in talks with investors to start their own businesses. ''Students whose products became popular last year currently supply goods through orders.''
