(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait city july 1 (agencies): the ministers council will soon approve new regulations governing the overseas medical treatment including allotting a work period of four years for heads of health offices and health attaches at overseas kuwaiti missions reports al- anba daily quoting an informed source. he revealed that the officials will spend only a single four-year term in overseas mission while those officials whose children are in schools one year extension will be allowed adding that the regulations will be made public after the team completes the recommendations and final review before presenting them to the ministers council for final approval.
He also revealed that the government will increase the number of health offices to cover areas that are away from the cities where the current offices are located adding that the health offices now have the prerogative to extend the stay for patients and their companions for maximum of three months.
The source indicated that the medical committees will review the cases of patients who need more time to recuperate to check if it is necessary to grant an extension of three months for physiotherapy. the sheikh jaber al-ahmad al- sabah medical center was officially inaugurated here on tuesday. the center which provides health services for primary health care for a number of areas in the north of the capital manama has been funded by kuwait fund for arab economic development (kfaed).
The total cost of the project is about 3.5 million bahraini dinars. bahraini health minister sadeq al- shihabi who opened the center in the presence of the dean of the diplomatic corps kuwaiti ambassador to bahrain sheikh azzam al-sabah told kuwait news agency (kuna) that the health center is the 16th to be funded by kfaed a matter that reflects the extent of cohesion and cooperation between kuwait and bahrain. he added that the center which is located in barbar area was a major achievement and an example of cooperation between kuwait and bahrain pointing out that the cooperation will also include the establishment of other health centers in the next stages especially since the ministry is seeking to develop its health services.
Al-shihabi extended thanks and appreciation to kuwait for its contribution through kfaed in the establishment of this center which serves approximately 54000 people in addition to its contribution and support in the creation of other health centers that serve different areas of bahrain. for his part sheikh azzam al-sabah expressed in a statement to kuwait news agency (kuna) his delight at the opening of sheikh jaber al-ahmad al-sabah health center to serve the citizens of bahrain especially since the center is a miniature hospital that offers various health services.
